Thank you for partnering with CAMA and the Ecuadorian Christian and Missionary Alliance (C&MA) this year.
You played a major role in helping Ecuadorians affected by the April 2016 earthquake. The magnitude-7.8 quake lasted only 48 seconds but took 663 lives and left 18,775 people homeless.
Local Alliance churches sent volunteers and counselors to the area to respond to immediate needs. Church leaders also set six key priorities for recovery work. Over the past months, they have made progress in reaching these goals—including rebuilding churches.
CAMA has partnered with the C&MA of Ecuador by providing funds for relief and training church leaders in disaster response.
Take time to watch the video below produced by our Ecuadorian church family. In the video, you will meet Katherin Piguave who lost five members of her family. You will also meet a couple who lost both their home and business.
“This is the moment for us to be the church,” Ecuadorian Pastor Paúl Candela said. “Like the early church, people can see us and say, ‘look how they love each other.’ A church that supports widows, a church that provides for orphans, and a church always looking out for the most vulnerable.”
