Update from June 24, 2025

Nearly three months since the 7.7-magnitude earthquake that struck Myanmar, CAMA has continued to empower the local church to come alongside those who are still recovering from March’s quake.

In the weeks following the disaster, dozens of aftershocks shook Myanmar and surrounding areas. ReliefWeb stated that as of May 7, over 3,700 had lost their lives, and over 5,100 people had been injured. Dispossessed families have been living in makeshift shelters and remain in need of help to rebuild their lives. Food and clean water have been hard to come by. Health services and livelihoods have been disrupted. People have been sleeping outside—enduring early rains and soaring temperatures—due to a distrust in the stability of remaining structures. In the midst of all of this, the war has continued on.

But thanks to your support of CAMA’s Disaster Relief Fund, the local church has been able to keep disturbing relief and share hope throughout Myanmar. You made it possible for goods to be distributed in Mandalay and gave 78 families in Kalaw relief packages filled with food, mosquito nets, sleeping mats, solar powered lamps, and kitchen materials.

In Inle, you made it possible for believers to go out by boat to hand out medicine, disinfectants, bandages, and other medical items along with mosquito nets, lamps, blankets, and sleeping mats. 82 families were empowered to rebuild their homes through these goods along with rice and cooking oil. You also made it possible for a local team of volunteers who have been helping families living over a lake rebuild homes safely through the purchase of life jackets. Poles were also able to be brought in to help rebuild stilted homes.

In Naypyidaw, medicine, disinfectants, bandages, and other medical items were distributed along with mosquito nets, lamps, blankets, and sleeping mats. 50 kilograms of rice were given to each family along with cooking oil, instant noodles, tea, coffee, and soup—enough for a family to eat for a month while rebuilding their home.

Many of the people the believers served had never heard about Jesus before, but in every location where relief was given, relationships were built, and the gospel was shared.

Thank you for making it possible to come alongside those in need in Myanmar with relief and the compassion of Christ.

Update from April 16, 2025

Thanks to your support of CAMA’s Disaster Relief Fund, food, bottled water, medicine, and household items were able to be distributed to those left in need by the 7.7-magnitude earthquake that struck Myanmar on March 28.

Your generosity made it possible for affected families to receive rice, instant noodles, cooking oil, solar-powered lamps, mosquito nets, soap, sleeping mats, blankets, and so much more from the local Alliance church.

Your partnership also made it possible for a generator, water pump, and purifier to be purchased, delivered, and installed in Mandalay. In Sagaing, water tanks, a water pump, and a water purifier were purchased, delivered, and installed as well—making clean water available to those in desperate need.

The aid that you shared with survivors through followers of Jesus addressed immediate needs while promoting safety and dignity—thank you!

As CAMA continues to search for opportunities alongside our local and Alliance World Fellowship partners to help others walk forward from this crisis, find stability, and experience the hope of Christ, we want to thank you for how you’ve empowered the gospel to be shared in both word and deed. Your compassion is making it possible to provide relief—to demonstrate Christ’s compassion—to those most in need.

Update from March 31, 2025

Will you share Christ’s compassion with the people of Myanmar?

As of April 2, over 3,000 people have lost their lives and over 4,500 people have been injured in Myanmar by the 7.7-magnitude earthquake that shook Southeast Asia on Friday—the deadliest natural disaster Myanmar has experienced in years.

Due to a four-year civil war that has left countless civilians exposed to continued violence and in need of health care, food, and shelter, aid is now desperately needed by the men, women, and children who have been left even more vulnerable by this quake.

Will you give a gift to CAMA’s Disaster Relief Fund today?

Your partnership will make it possible for CAMA’s local partners in Myanmar to empower the local church to distribute aid, for civilians to experience Christ’s compassion through relief, for hope to be shared, and so much more.

Update from March 28, 2025

Will you pray for those who now need Christ more than ever?

Today, a powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck multiple countries in Southeast Asia—causing over a hundred people to lose their lives and injuring hundreds more.

CAMA is currently working to partner with local pastors in hurting areas to provide aid to those left in need by this quake.

Could you please pray for wisdom, discernment, and the Lord’s empowerment as CAMA international workers look for ways to get aid into hurting areas that are hard to reach? Pray that those who have been left in need would be able to receive Christ’s compassionate care. Pray that those who are now suffering would find healing and hope in Christ.
