The number of Ebola cases in N’Zérékoré, Guinea is increasing and there is much fear in the general population.
In response to the growing epidemic, the staff at Eau de la Vie, a local non-government organization launched by CAMA that now administers Hope Clinic, feel that it is imperative to expand their Ebola awareness training program. Trainers will now visit villages five days a week to teach Ebola prevention through hand washing and water purification.
CAMA is sending an additional $17,000 to Eau de la Vie to increase Ebola awareness efforts. Funds will be used for things such as covering trainers’ daily wages, providing soap and chlorine to the villagers, and purchasing a used 4×4 vehicle for the training teams. This truck will allow teams to reach more remote villages along the Liberian border.
To facilitate the Ebola awareness training sessions, CAMA has opened the Ebola Crisis Fund. Donations made to this fund will support prevention training and future initiatives.

The Management Committee of Hope Clinic has made the decision to proceed with the temporary closure of the clinic for August 7-17, 2014. This is a means of implementing all possible safety measures.
This decision was made as a result of the severity of and the resurgence of the Ebola epidemic that has hit our region. There have been cases of contamination and death at N’Zérékoré Regional Hospital. Doctors and nurses who had contact with these Ebola patients have been placed under observation.
A patient suspected to possibly have Ebola was at Hope Clinic on August 6 and was causing fear among the staff. But we are praying to God that this patient will test negative [for the disease] and still the hearts of our people.
